for a Fish and Game Program Technician located in Haines Alaska!
What you will be doing:
Under general supervision of the Division of Commercial Fisheries Area Management Biologist the Fish and Game Program Technician provides administrative clerical and technical support to Haines Area management and research programs within the Division of Commercial Fisheries Division of Wildlife Conservation and Sport Fish Division. This position serves as a primary point of contact for the public providing current and accurate information on fish and wildlife regulations management practices and seasonal activities. Responsibilities include performing commercial fish ticket data entry and quality control issuing fishing and hunting licenses permits harvest tickets and locking tags and collecting and recording harvest reports. This position also conducts sealing of harvested animals including bears moose mountain goats and furbearers in accordance with regulatory addition this position serves as the sole administrative support for the Haines office with responsibilities that include budget tracking processing receipts office management and providing personnel support for staff.

- Knowledge of commercial sport and subsistence/personal use fishing as well as hunting and trapping regulations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interpret complex policies and clearly communicate them to staff and the public
- Proficiency with computers and software applications including accurate data entry and management within databases and administrative systems

A valid drivers license is required.
This position may be in possession of or have access to firearms/ammunition.
- First Aid/CPR Certification. Provided by the department at no cost to the employee.
- State of Alaska Notary Public.
- Firearms and wildlife training and certification if field work is desired by the incumbent.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of office clerical experience or technical experience related to fish wildlife or habitat resources;
OR
One year of experience providing advanced clerical services based on established procedures precedents and policies in administrative informative and/or programmatic functions. This experience includes work such as an Office Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution:
Postsecondary education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience).Additional Required Information
