Job Summary
Tectonic is seeking a motivated Office Engineer to support exciting infrastructure projects in Queens NY. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful public-sector projects while gaining hands-on experience in project coordination documentation and construction management with strong potential for professional growth and advancement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions of the Office Engineer position include the review of inspectors daily reports for accuracy the preparation and maintenance of monthly estimate and material certification books using CEES or other applicable software the preparation of change orders as needed monitoring of the budget and schedule submittal tracking maintenance of project files and documentation and the preparation of meeting minutes and job-related correspondence. The Office Engineer will work under the Resident Engineers guidance and ensure successful execution completion and close-out of the project as well as perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a HS Diploma/Equivalent and must possess and maintain at least one of the following:
- Valid NICET Level III or IV Certification;
- Valid Professional Engineering License;
- BS Degree in Civil Engineering or an acceptable field;
- A minimum of 3 years of related experience; NYSDOT experience required;
- Ability to review Inspectors Daily Reports for accuracy of various work elements on projects involving highways and bridges;
- Familiarity with the Manual for Uniform Recordkeeping (MURK) and Site Manager and Computerized Engineers Estimate System (CEES and APPIA); must also have NYSDOT recordkeeping experience;
- Excellent organization interpersonal and oral and written communication skills;
- Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn project specific software as needed;
- Requires a valid clean drivers license and personal vehicle to travel to and within project sites as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the essential functions of this position it is frequently necessary to:
- Assume a stationary position;
- Handle inspect and/or feel documents materials and/or equipment relevant to the job;
- Communicate with colleagues supervisors and clients using Company email and telephone systems;
- Occasionally move around on the job-site including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder and positioning oneself appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment usually for prolonged periods of time
- Lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. for some types of monitoring and inspections occasionally as needed
- Good visual skills including focused depth perception for performing inspections and
- Occasional daily operation of a motor-vehicle or use of public transportation which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.
Employees may also be required to undergo substance abuse testing in accordance with project requirements US DOT Regulations and/or Company policy. The employee may occasionally be required to operate a computer as well as other related office machinery such as calculators printers and copy machines. PAY RANGE
Tectonics goal is to compensate employees fairly and equitably across all positions Companywide. Our advertised pay ranges are representative of our good faith effort to provide a reasonable anticipated salary range. The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidates work location experience education certifications and capabilities compared to the advertised position.
Pay Range: $70.00 - $80.00 / hour
