Aboriginal Health Worker Child & Family Health
In this role you will work closely withChild and Family Health Nurses in the Building Stronger Foundations program to supportAboriginal individuals families and children to access health services andnavigate their health journey in a culturally safe and supportive way. You willwork closely with families parents and carers to help ensure children have thebest start in life and that families feel supported in managing their healthand wellbeing.
You will play an important role in buildingtrust with community members providing health information and support andhelping families connect with the right services. By working alongside familiesand children you will help strengthen health outcomes for the next generationwhile ensuring care is delivered in a way that respects culture community andconnection.
What youwill be doing
- Supporting Aboriginal families and children to access health and community services Providing culturally safe health information support and guidance to community members to navigate health services Working alongside families parents and carers to support child and family health and wellbeing
Supporting people to attend appointments andengage with health programs
Participating in child and family healthprograms community activities and health promotion initiatives
Building strong relationships with localservices to ensure families receive the right support
Working collaboratively with the AWAHS teamto improve health outcomes for Aboriginal children families and community
Requirements:
A genuine passion and commitment tosupporting Aboriginalchildren families and community
Understandingof early childhood health and wellbeing
Qualifications in health Aboriginal health community services or a related field are desirable however relevant experience or a willingness to learnand complete training on the job will also be considered
To connect to the Aboriginal community and be an enabler for culturally safe supports forfamilies
Excellent communication skills and the ability tobuild strong relationships
Abilityto work both independently and as part of a team
Current Drivers Licence
Working With Children Check and National Police Check(or willingness to obtain)
Identify as Aboriginal and /or TorresStrait Islander
