As a Product Definition Engineer your main task will be to produce and (where adequate capability has been demonstrated) check component definitions in line with company practices to meet design intent satisfying fit form and function of the component whilst optimising manufacture.

It includes being influential during all stages of the design cycle (e.g. creating analysis models producing tolerance stack-ups creating the master model and producing the component definition) manufacture of the part (e.g. supporting Design For Manufacture activities and the manufacturing buy-off process) right through to supporting parts in-service (e.g. managing and incorporating Drawing Alteration Requests supporting concession activities and supporting in-service investigation work).

This role also includes Supporting delivery of the automation workstreams (such as MBD) and High Value Digital Design Strategy enabling future efficiencies within Engineering.

In this role you will:

  • Prepare develop and maintain the master component definition and relevant documentation in accordance with company procedures engineering drawing standards design intent (fit form function) manufacturing & build capability project costs timescales and quality requirements.
  • Work as part of a multi-discipline team to ensure new and revised component definitions are fit for purpose (meets design intent manufacturable etc.).
  • Produce tolerance stack-ups to aid new product creation & validation and to support in-service investigation work.
  • Actively promote encourage and support the identification and implementation of continuous improvement (of tools processes methods and guidance material).
  • Support the delivery of DD&I Automation Strategy (including Model Based Definition and High Value Digital Design).

  • Candidates should have previous product definition experience and are expected to have professional and academic qualifications to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
  • Experienced in using Siemens NX and Teamcenter is essential.
  • Experienced in using ISO/British Standard and/or ASME Y14.5M drawing standards is essential.
  • A good knowledge of engine components and associated manufacturing capabilities.
  • Excellent communication written interpersonal and presentation skills with ability to contribute effectively in a team environment.
  • Able to work accurately and at pace. Driven to succeed and can take the lead in identifying project requirements specifying and executing packages of work.
  • Enthusiastic to develop digital skills and drive automation strategy.
