Job Summary

BVP is an intentionally diverse network of tuition-free public charter schools. As a founding member of the National Coalition of Diverse Charter Schools BVP offers a high-quality school choice to the families of Central Falls Cumberland Lincoln and Pawtucket.
The mission of Blackstone Valley Prep is to prepare every scholar to achieve their goals for college and the world beyond. BVPs scholars will graduate empowered as learners individuals and community members to access opportunities and break down barriers. Apart from academics we believe that preparing scholars for the world beyond also means experiencing the diversity of the world we live in today. Our network is designed to be diverse accepting students from the four communities that share a region but differ substantially in their socio-economic racial and ethnic demographics. We seek to create a staff with a similarly diverse set of backgrounds and experiences that reflect that of our students families and communities. Blackstone Valley Prep (BVP) Mayoral Academy is now hiring dedicated team members who are willing to do whatever it takes to put all scholars on a path to college. In addition Personal Care Attendants are expected to:Work one-on-one with a specific scholar needing academic and/or behavioral supportCreate an environment of respect and rapport for and with scholarManage scholar behavior to allow for high levels of engagement with the contentModel a precise and expressive use of language to effectively communicate with scholar including expectations for learning directions for activities and explanations of contentIntellectually engage all scholars in learning through well-designed learning tasks and activities created with special educators that require complex thinking and include appropriate scaffoldingWhen necessary assist in the use of toilet facilities QualificationsKnowledge of special education preferredExperience working with students in an educational setting and/or evidence of an interest in supporting learning experiences preferred Bilingual candidates preferred but not requiredHigh school diploma or general equivalency diploma required CPI certification required2 years of experience as aide/paraprofessional in a diverse educational setting required Be of good characterMeet one (1) of the following requirements: Successfully passed the ParaPro Assessment. Complete at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education Hold an associates degree or higherCompletion of a Teacher Assistant Pre-Employment Training Program approved by the RI Department of Education (RIDE). Three (3) exceptions to this qualification: Hired before January 1 1999 Certification as a TA in another state Hold an associates degree or higher AND have completed coursework or other training consistent with the teacher assistant program Range:$36419 - $40253To Apply:
