Role Overview

One of our esteemed clients is seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate to join their Banking & Finance team. This is a niche specialised role requiring a minimum of 5 years postqualification experience (PQE) in international banking and finance law. The successful candidate will be working exclusively for this client. Remote work may be considered for exceptional candidates who demonstrate high levels of trustworthiness and independence.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting reviewing and negotiating complex lending and ancillary finance documentation.
• Advising on leveraged finance assetbased lending and trade finance transactions.
• Managing bilateral and syndicated lending matters including LMAstyle documentation.
• Providing clear legal analysis risk assessment and practical recommendations to stakeholders.
• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders across legal business compliance and credit functions.
• Ensuring accuracy consistency and attention to detail in a documentationheavy environment.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum LLB degree (BCom LLB advantageous).
• At least 5 years PQE in banking and finance law with demonstrable international experience.
• Proven track record in structuring and drafting lending transactions.
• Strong knowledge of LMA and related finance documentation.
• Commercially minded with confidence engaging senior stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple matters under pressure.
• Exposure to mortgage bond transactions is advantageous.

Please note: Candidates with only South African banking litigation experience will not be considered. This role requires substantive transactional and drafting expertise.
