The Opportunity
As our CPA Accounting Manager you will lead a team of 3 5 accountants and tax preparers oversee day-to-day client service and help shape the systems and processes of a scalable firm.
This is a hands-on leadership role-you will review complex work manage key client relationships and serve as a trusted resource for both your team and clients.
For the right candidate this position offers a principal/partner-level opportunity with potential for economic ownership in the firm.
What Youll Do
- Lead supervise and mentor a team of 3 5 accounting and tax professionals
- Oversee bookkeeping write-up work and monthly/quarterly financial closings
- Review financial statements for business clients
- Review individual and small-business tax returns (-S)
- Provide guidance on complex tax matters and ensure timely accurate filings
- Manage workflow and deadlines especially during tax season
- Serve as primary advisor to a portfolio of clients-answer questions interpret results and identify planning opportunities
- Maintain strong quality control and enforce firm standards
- Stay current on federal and Texas tax law changes and implement updates
- Collaborate with leadership to improve processes systems and scalability
- Assist with IRS/state notices and client issue resolution
- Contribute to strategic growth initiatives and business development
What Were Looking For
- Active CPA license (required)
- Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
- 5 years of public accounting experience (business accounting individual/small-business tax)
- 2 years of experience supervising or managing staff
- Strong knowledge of U.S. individual and small-business tax rules
- Experience with modern tax software and strong Excel skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Genuine interest in pursuing an ownership stake in a growing firm
Nice to Have
- Experience in a small- to mid-sized firm environment
- Experience in improving processes and systems
- Familiarity with practice management/workflow software
- Interest or experience in business development and practice growth
