Job Title: Power System Engineer
Location: Taylor TX 76574 (Hybrid)
Duration: 12 Months
JOB SUMMARY
- Provides engineering support and analysis for the integration of large flexible loads into the Client System. Reviews interconnection studies for large loads and interfaces with Transmission Service Providers to ensure compliance with Client and NERC requirements. Performs regular and ad-hoc analyses of large load consumption behaviors and their impact on the reliability of the Client interconnection. Develops appropriate tools displays policies and procedures to ensure reliable integration of large loads. Serves as a subject matter expert on large load-related topics to Client management and other Client teams.
Position is open to an Engineer 1 2 3 or Sr depending on the experience of the candidate identified.
Job Duties
Engineer 1
- With guidance from management and senior engineers evaluates large load interconnection studies for accuracy and compliance with Client and NERC requirements
- May perform power flow studies to assess the reliability of large load interconnection requests
- May communicate Client requirements to Transmission Service Providers and entities wishing to interconnect large loads in Client
- Performs regular and ad-hoc analyses of large load behavior and impacts on Client markets and real-time reliability
- Gains knowledge of relevant market rules and departmental procedures
Engineer 2
- Evaluates large load interconnection studies for accuracy and compliance with Client and NERC requirements
- May perform power flow studies to assess the reliability of large load interconnection requests
- Communicates Client requirements to Transmission Service Providers and entities wishing to interconnect large loads in Client
- Performs regular and ad-hoc analyses of large load behavior and impacts on Client markets and real-time reliability
- Participates in cross-functional teams to ensure large loads are fully integrated into Client models and systems
- Is prorelevant market rules and departmental procedures
Engineer 3
- Performs all duties of an Engineer 2 as well as the following
- Develops enhances and maintains tools and reports for Client stakeholders that improve visibility and understanding of large load activity
- Develops and sustains a high-level understanding of Clients competitive energy markets and their relationship to large load incentives and behaviour
- Works with senior engineers and management to propose and develop revisions to Client protocols and guides that enhance the reliability of large loads in the Client system
- Supports staff representing the Client in technical committees and subcommittees
- May provide presentations and participate in stakeholder meetings with Client personnel and Market Participants
- May provide training on large load topics to Client Management and teams
Engineer Sr
- Performs all duties of an Engineer 3 as well as the following
- Serves as a subject matter expert on large load topics
- Regularly provides presentations and participates in stakeholder meetings with Client personnel and Market Participants
- Develops team procedures and documentation in collaboration with management
- Provides training and guidance to less experienced engineers
- May lead cross-functional teams to ensure large loads are fully integrated into Client models and systems
- Works proactively with upper management to plan and execute the clients mission and initiatives relating to large load integration
EXPERIENCE

- Requires no additional job-related work experience in excess of degree requirements.
