The Dunedin Study has followed the lives of 1037 babies born between 1 April 1972 and 31 March 1973 at Queen Mary Maternity Hospital Dunedin New Zealand since their birth. The Study is now in its fifth decade and has produced more than 1400 publications and reports many of which have influenced or helped inform policy makers in New Zealand and overseas. The Research Unit has been based in the Department of Psychology at the University of Otago since 2015.
The role Te mahi
In this role you will undertake longitudinal analyses and research examining Māori health across the life course based on the Dunedin Study and other related studies data. You will work with large complex datasets including linked administrative data (i.e. the Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI)).
While authoring papers from research or scholarship undertaken during the period of appointment and you will also provide advice and support with related data infrastructure projects.
Your skills and experience Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
We seek applicants who can undertake independent research in a new area for the Dunedin Study. Our ideal candidate will have high level statistical skills in combination with expertise in Māori health are needed to work with Dunedin Study data alongside other birth cohort studies data as well as data within the IDI. You will alsp be able to apply an equity lens to independent research and have the opportunity to also work on other Dunedin Study projects related to health chronic conditions and disabilities over the lifecourse.
In addition to the above we seek candidates who have:
PhD in a relevant discipline
Advanced skills in biostatistics research design data management and statistical analysis
Advanced skills in statistical programming
Expertise in working with linked administrative data (i.e. the Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI)).
Strong record of communicating research including conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications
Experience undertaking research with a diverse range of groups and communities.
Experience working in Māori health

This is a part time (0.6 FTE) fixed term (until September 2029) position based in Ōtepoti Dunedin.
The appointment range for this role is $97377 to $114943.
