About the opportunity

The Research Support Officer (Funding and Ethics) provides essential administrative and customer-focused support to the Post-Award Research Funding team and Research Ethics Unit within the Office of Research Services (ORS) Research Division which oversees the University of Tasmanias research funding ethics and governance activities. Reporting under the broad direction of the Manager Post Award Operations and the Manager Research Ethics the role supports post-award research funding administration by managing enquiries milestone submissions contract and system data entry web content and inbox coordination to ensure compliance with contractual and governance requirements. The role also supports the operations of the Research Ethics Unit by coordinating ethics application processing and tracking committee correspondence unit finance and invoicing meeting and training logistics and preparation of agendas and related materials. Through effective administration strong stakeholder engagement and operational excellence the role contributes directly to ORS effectiveness and the Universitys research success.

What youll do:

  • Provide research administration activities and support to the Post Award Research Funding team.
  • Assist with the maintenance storage updating and tracking of records on the Research Administration System (RAS) and HPRM records management system (TRIM).
  • Delivery and management of the Research Funding web presence and Research Funding inbox.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage the business of University Ethics Committees and support the ethical review and monitoring of research projects.
  • Provide high-quality service to the University research community including coordination of committee member recruitment induction and the provision of ongoing training and education and liaise with researchers and external stakeholders and aim to clarify and resolve issues that may stem from the exchange of information between committees and researchers.

What were looking for:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including well-developed written and oral communication skills with particular emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of information technology and associated applications particularly the Microsoft Office suite the ability to follow established data-entry procedures and basic financial management procedures.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills with the capacity to act independently and within a team environment operating within guidelines using discretion and sound judgement working cooperatively within a small team.
  • Demonstrated time management skills including the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the provision of effective administrative support preferably in University administration.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $116872 comprising base salary within the range of $92120 to $99891 plus 17% superannuation.
