Description

The EHS Specialist is responsible for implementing maintaining and continuously improving the Environmental Health and Safety management system across assigned PCG locations. This role partners closely with site leadership operations engineering and corporate EHS to ensure compliance with applicable company standards and regulatory requirements while actively driving a proactive preventionfocused safety culture. The EHS Specialist provides handson operational support conducts field assessments supports incident management and leads sitelevel and grouplevel EHS improvement initiatives.

Additional Information:

This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Global Headquarters located at 1 Sherwin Way Cleveland OH 44113 and will have at least 20% travel.

Responsibilities
  1. EHS Management System Implementation and Governance

    1. Implement and sustain the PCG EHS Management System across assigned locations ensuring alignment with corporate standards regulatory requirements and continuous improvement objectives.

    2. Actively promote a strong positive safety culture through visible field presence professional interactions coaching and consistent reinforcement of safe work practices.

    3. Support onboarding coaching and ongoing development of Facility Managers and site leadership on EHS system requirements roles and accountabilities.

    4. Coordinate coach and support site Safety Champions including defining expectations tracking engagement and ensuring followthrough on assigned actions.

    5. Conduct and document job safety analyses and taskbased risk assessments for routine and nonroutine activities and ensure identified controls are implemented and verified.

    6. Plan facilitate and document monthly EHS calls or meetings including preparation of agendas review of performance metrics discussion of incidents and tracking of action items.

    7. Track analyze and document monthly EHS performance metrics within the designated EHS software system ensuring data accuracy timeliness and trend analysis.

    8. Monitor and support compliance with all applicable company EHS policies procedures and federal state and local regulatory requirements escalating gaps and risks as appropriate.

  2. Operational EHS Support and Risk Management

    1. Integrate EHS risk identification and loss control principles into daily operations by working directly with operations maintenance logistics and management personnel.

    2. Lead or support the recording investigation and analysis of EHS incidents near misses and unsafe conditions including root cause analysis and development of corrective and preventive actions with an emphasis on proactive risk reduction.

    3. Identify evaluate and recommend engineering administrative and workpractice controls to eliminate or reduce health safety and environmental risks.

    4. Interpret and support implementation of applicable federal state and local EHS regulations and standards relevant to company operations including occupational safety environmental compliance and fire protection requirements.

    5. Coordinate and support sitelevel safety occupational health and fire protection improvement projects including planning execution and verification of effectiveness.

    6. Deliver and document employee training for required EHS programs including newhire orientation refresher training and taskspecific instruction.

    7. Maintain incident management corrective action tracking and recordkeeping processes within the EHS management system.

    8. Support sites during regulatory inspections or agency interactions including preparation of documentation participation during inspections and coordination of followup actions.

    9. Provide technical and practical leadership in the development implementation and maintenance of EHS policies programs procedures and best practices.

    10. Plan and implement training and awareness programs for site managers and employees to ensure understanding of EHS responsibilities and compliance obligations.

    11. Support programs related to employee safety records driver safety workers compensation and special environmental or sustainability initiatives as assigned.

    12. Develop and support initiatives aimed at reducing the frequency and severity of occupational injuries illnesses environmental releases and property losses.

  3. Site Visits Audits and Continuous Improvement
    1. Conduct regular site visits to assigned locations to observe operations coach managers and employees and assess EHS performance and compliance.

    2. Identify gaps against company standards and regulatory requirements and clearly document findings risks and recommended actions.

    3. Manage site safety observations audit findings and corrective actions within the EHS software system including tracking to closure and verifying effectiveness.

    4. Provide EHS support for PCG projects such as facility relocations expansions decommissioning activities and significant process or layout changes.

    5. Lead or participate in PCGwide EHS continuous improvement initiatives such as global compliance programs forklift and powered industrial truck safety sustainability efforts and other strategic EHS projects.



Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g. OPT CPT H1B EB-1etc.)
  • Must have a bachelors degree or higher or have at least four (4) years of work experience in environmental health and safety
  • Must have one (1) year of experience in EHS roles within manufacturing chemical processing coatings distribution or similar industrial environments.

  • Must have one (1) year of experience using Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word Excel Power Point Teams and/or Outlook.
  • Must have the ability to travel to company locations as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have a Bachelors degree or higher in Environmental Health and Safety Engineering Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Science.
  • Have experience with EHS management systems incident investigation and EHS software platforms preferred.
  • Have working knowledge of OSHA EPA DOT and applicable state and local EHS regulations.
  • Have the ability to recognize hazards or trends from personal observations or from discussion with plant employees and communicate or take personal initiative to address.
