Job Summary

The Training Center Director of Energy Solutions is responsible for the strategic management and leadership of the division. Through a variety of funding sources and grant programs the Training Center researches develops and implements training and technical assistance programs and services that help reduce the energy burden increase the overall energy efficiency of residential and commercial buildings and eliminate unsafe and unhealthy energy-related problems faced by both.

This position has considerable latitude for the exercise of independent judgment regarding financial and other matters that may impact the organization. Working hours may vary but the customary schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. The position requires frequent daytime and overnight travel up to 35% of the time as well as occasional evening and weekend hours.

Job Objectives

Ensure effective leadership and operational management of the Training Center

  • Maintain compliance with CHP policies and all funding and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to funding agencies and CHP leadership.
  • Manage Training Center operations within the approved annual budget.
  • Plan staff and schedule Training Center activities and functions to ensure efficient operations and program delivery.

Support financial sustainability program growth and pipeline development

  • Maintain and develop funding sources contracts and partnerships that support Training Center operations.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand training and technical assistance through local state and federal partners and networks.
  • Lead prospecting customer/funder engagement and partner relations to drive growth.
  • Maintain a consistent pipeline of training opportunities and projects to sustain and grow the Training Center.
  • Cultivate customer and partner relationships and actively manage the lead pipeline using tracking tools.
  • Identify opportunities to expand programs services and revenue streams.

Strengthen partnerships and national engagement

  • Establish and manage ongoing partner engagement to strengthen collaboration and advance the organizations mission.
  • Maintain productive relationships with Weatherization (WX) State offices and partner organizations nationwide.
  • Represent CHP with external organizations and support the Training Centers national reputation.
  • Increase awareness of programs and services among target audiences through strategic outreach efforts.
  • Collaborate across departments to align outreach program delivery and operational capacity.
  • Manage communications with funders and key stakeholders.

Lead and develop Training Center staff

  • Provide coaching feedback and support to staff to encourage professional growth and retention.
  • Work with Human Resources and the Vice President to address personnel matters and maintain a positive work environment.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge and skills in program and policy development personnel management and overall financial and budget management.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and styles.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers the public funding agencies partners and staff with a focus on relationship building trust development and emotional intelligence.
  • Understanding of Weatherization programs and industry needs.
  • Ability to develop or assist in developing proposals for submission to funding agencies.
  • Skilled in the use of computers and relevant software applications.
  • Must be highly motivated self-directed and able to work independently demonstrate initiative solve problems and manage multiple high-priority tasks and timelines effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of business budgeting financial management and operational and strategic business planning.
  • Demonstrates an entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for program growth and sustainability along with adaptability and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Expected to demonstrate strong ethics in interpersonal relations and work as an effective collaborative team member in a strong team environment.

Technical Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook Ring Central and Teams to support communication coordination and collaboration.
  • General proficiency with office technology and business software including Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint).
  • Ability to organize edit and manage documents across platforms such as Microsoft Word Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelors degree in business construction energy efficiency building science or a related field or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in budgeting personnel management and grant management required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in construction business grants administration or a related field required.

Remote Work Considerations

This position is not remote and requires on-site presence at the Training Center
