TITLE: PAYROLL SUPERVISOR
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Require high school diploma or equivalent.
- Require experience in payroll and insurance benefits.
- Require experience in school district accounting.
- Require experience with Word Google Excel TimeClock Plus (TCP) and Visions software.
- Perform payroll and accounting functions accurately.
- Analyze records make cost studies and maintain a complete systematic set of records in payroll accounting.
- Operate standard office equipment efficiently including computer copier printer calculator and fax.
- Understand insurance terminology.
- Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to personnel and payroll.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Relate to staff and public in a positive manner.
JOB GOAL: Administer payroll efficiently.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process paperwork for new employees.
- Verify and make changes in salary deductions and other personnel data as it occurs.
- Prepare biweekly payroll vouchers for all employees. Prepare supplemental payrolls as needed.
- Verify and distribute annual W-2 and retirement statements.
- Submit quarterly and annual reports and prepare payments on all state and federal payroll reports for district employees.
- Transmit data to ASRS and TSA on a biweekly basis.
- Analyze records make cost studies and maintain a complete systematic set of records in payroll accounting.
- Remain knowledgeable of current laws and regulations pertaining to payroll and benefits.
- Supervise activities of payroll technicians.
- Maintain confidentiality of all matters.
- Communicate with others in a clear and precise manner and relate to staff and public in a positive manner.
- Contribute to the team by accomplishing additional duties as assigned.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents in English as well as the ability to write routine correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups of customers or employees.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations / issues. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and verbal form.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated by Director of Finance.
SUPERVISION:
Supervised by Director of Finance. Responsible for hiring supervising and evaluating payroll technicians.
