Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Technician for Robotics to join the Technical Services team with the Faculty of Engineering and this hands-on and highly specialised role you will manage Robotics lab operations to support world-class teaching and research.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing and maintaining laboratory environments
  • Designing and developing hardware/software using technologies such Robot Operating System (ROS) Raspberry Pi PSOC
  • Supporting design courses and final-year projects in Robotics and Control Systems.
  • Providing expert technical support and guidance to students and academic staff.
  • Actively work on collaborative research projects with industry

This is a full-time 37.5 hours per week role on a permanent contract.

The salary range for this role is $78000 - $88000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

The Technical Services team is a vital part of the Faculty of Engineering and Design supporting both academic programmes and research innovation across all departments. Working closely with academics students and external partners our team ensures the delivery of high-quality teaching and cutting-edge research through technical expertise and operational excellence.

 

He kōrero mōu About you

Our suitable candidate will meet the requirements below:

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer and/or Electronics related Engineering degree.
  • Established experience in hardware and software design (post training) of at least 2 to 3 years.
  • Experience working in a tertiary or educational lab environment (preferred)..
  • Experience with technologies such as Robot Operating System (ROS) Raspberry Pi PSOC.
  • Knowledge of programming languages
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • A proactive and independent work style with a strong focus on health and safety.
