Employment Type: Full-time 12-month role starting in the 2026-2027 school year.
Salary: $69750-$80250 based on comparable leadership experience
Overview: Valor Collegiate Academies is seeking a passionate Associate Athletic Director who is excited to share our mission of academic excellence and empowering scholars to live inspired and purposeful keeping with the mission of the school the VCA athletic department strives to educate and invigorate through competitive athletics.
The Associate Athletic Director works directly with the Managing Director of Athletics Valors athletics staff as well as students by providing administrative support to various aspects of addition to providing administrative support the Associate Athletic Director will also have opportunities to attend conferences with the Managing Director of Athletics. Daily work with scholar-athletes is combined with responsibilities to develop scholar-athletes towards their noble purpose and to play an active role in running the athletic program.
The Associate Athletic Director plays a key role in driving the growth and success of Valors athletic program. This position provides valuable experience in athletic administration and serves as a strong stepping stone for those aspiring to become Athletic Directors in the future.
Core Responsibilities:
Athletic Program Operations & Event Management
- Serve as primary administrator for home events and coordinate schedules with the Managing Director of Athletics (roughly 60% coverage).
- Plan and manage Middle School practice and game schedules submitting transportation requests for approval.
- Attend administrative meetings (HVAC or equivalent) and coordinate coach participation.
- Act as primary contact for Middle School athletics operations ensuring smooth communication with vendors schools and service providers.
- Plan and execute all athletic awards ceremonies end-of-year events and select non-athletic department events.
- Support setup and teardown for game-day events (indoor and outdoor) and communicate weekly game-day information to visiting teams.
- Report facility maintenance needs and participate in weekly maintenance coordination meetings.
Supervision & Staff Leadership
- Support onboarding paperwork and daily operational needs for MS and HS coaches.
- Conduct practice walkthroughs and safety checks; escalate concerns to the Managing Director of Athletics.
- Track NFHS certifications and professional development; follow up on missing benchmarks.
- Assist in hiring evaluation and performance management of coaching staff.
- Serve as liaison between school operations and athletics for event coordination.
Compliance Communication & Documentation
- Ensure adherence to school TSSAA and HVAC policies including eligibility and documentation requirements.
- Collect manage and verify student-athlete paperwork (physicals consent forms participation forms).
- Track and communicate outstanding athletic fees to staff families and coaches.
- Maintain digital filing systems and ensure accuracy of the master athletic calendar aligned with school-wide events.
- Manage internal and external communications including social media websites and digital content.
Facilities & Equipment Management
- Ensure all athletic facilities are safe clean and prepared for practices and competitions.
- Maintain and track inventory of equipment uniforms and supplies; recommend repairs or replacements.
- Coordinate purchasing and distribution with the Managing Director of Athletics ensuring accountability for checkouts and returns.
Student-Athlete & Intern Development
- Supervise the Student Leadership Team and student communications interns.
- Support scholar-athletes in alignment with Valors noble purpose framework.
- Foster a safe inclusive and growth-oriented environment for all student-athletes.
Professional Growth & Leadership
- Maintain or pursue RAA/CAA certification through the NIAAA.
- Engage in professional learning through athletic organizations conferences and networks.
- Demonstrate initiative vision and strategic planning in support of the athletics department.
- Build relationships across internal and external stakeholders modeling leadership skills consistent with Athletic Director pathways.
Key Experiences and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the rules fundamentals and best practices of interscholastic sports.
- Experience with TSSAA or other state-sanctioned athletic programs preferred.
- Flexibility with personal schedule to support the needs of a dynamic athletic program.
- Demonstrated success and achievement in your sport or area of athletic expertise.

Required Experience:
Director
