Make your mark in Finance
This position will oversee and manage the Controllership functions of Latin America and Caribbean entities including but not limited to the period end close Balance Sheet and Intercompany reconciliations Statutory Reporting as well as internal and external audits coordination.
The Controller will also support Regional CFO and the Americas Controller in having a general oversight of the legal entities in LAC Region to ensure all key financial deliverables are completed and submitted timely.
The accounting and financial operations will be supported through a combination of shared services (FC) and Regional Controller/Local Controller teams being responsible for the close collaboration amongst the FC and Local Controllers to ensure the business knowledge is maintained and appropriately reflected in key financial deliverables.
How you will create an impact
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all period end closing financial reporting activities in the US GAAP and Local GAAP ledgers for LAC Region entities in conjunction with FC to ensure all reporting deadlines are met.
Ensure accounting standards and policies are adhered to including processes completed by FC. Coordinate and review of month end and quarter end reporting activities. Perform analytical review including variance analysis of month end financial results with the CFO and provide commentary on major movements to ensure results are complete accurate and meaningful.
Collaborate with the Management of cash flow and local treasury activities Responsibility for Statutory Account preparation and filing working closely with FC as needed Provide supporting documentation for statutory accounts preparation to assist with external audit and reviews. Ensure timely and complete compliance with the local statutory requirements. Interact as necessary with government agencies financial institutions and industry organizations. Be able to clearly Manage other activities attending to requests for statistical information both for US and local authorities as well as other ad hoc requests that may arise from time to time
Work closely with FC and the Business colleagues to resolve issues and communicate changes. Review and meet with FC to discuss KPIs and participate in dashboard reviews to ensure Balance Sheet Reconciliations
Intercompany balances and other schedules are completed on a timely and accurate basis
Ensure an effective internal control environment. Coordinate the planning and lead the execution of local internal and external audit work.
Partnering with the Regional and Local CFO Local Controllers and FC to understand the performance of the business and to support the organization with key decisions by providing financial insights support and advice as needed Work with the CFO in preparing key deliverables for the Business and for the External Stakeholders as requested by regional management and HQ.
Manages and develops the Controllership Team members. Manages staff and supervisory staff who work on the following diverse activities financial and management reporting general ledger accounts payable invoicing accounts receivable intercompany transactions taxation fixed assets and inventory management cash management including interest costs and foreign exchange exposure purchasing and payroll as well as related internal controls mainly for Regional Projects.
Provides support and advice to staff concerning procedures systems and priorities.
Responsible for projects management as well as applications implementation documentation and user training.
Liaises with finance and IT staff in the regional headquarters (US) regarding changes in development design and implementation of corporate accounting payroll purchasing and tax systems forms and documentation.
What youll need to succeed
Bachelors Degree in Accounting MBA is preferred
Advanced English and Spanish skills. Portuguese is a plus
Strong analytical background with strategic thinking capabilities and attention to detail
Solid understanding of accounting internal controls financial systems and processes
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management both verbally and writing
Comfortable working in a fast-paced high-energy environment
ability to multi-task consistently meeting deadlines on multiple projects and activities
Willing and able to continuously learn and adapt in a dynamic and fast changing environment.
Work effectively in a team environment and in building collaborative relationships with peers and with other stakeholders
People Managerial skills Experience in working with Business Partners Operations (BPOs) and Third-Party Providers (TPAs)
Experience in LAC Regional roles is a plus
Recognized experience in Controllership role of Insurance Companies
Experience working with shared service centers
