Position Summary
The organization is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director within a hospital-based behavioral health setting in Connecticut.
This leadership role is responsible for overseeing medical clinical and behavioral health services operations within a major psychiatric or hospital service area. The Medical Director will provide administrative and clinical leadership while collaborating with physicians nursing leadership behavioral health professionals and executive administration to ensure high-quality psychiatric care delivery and operational excellence.
The position offers the opportunity to lead large-scale behavioral health initiatives physician recruitment quality improvement programs accreditation efforts and multidisciplinary treatment operations within a respected healthcare environment.
Provide medical and administrative leadership for hospital-based psychiatric and behavioral health programs
Oversee clinical operations patient care standards and behavioral health service delivery
Develop implement and evaluate departmental goals policies procedures and quality initiatives
Lead and supervise physicians advanced practice providers and multidisciplinary clinical teams
Participate in physician recruitment interviewing hiring onboarding and staff development
Ensure compliance with state federal and accreditation standards related to psychiatric and medical services
Collaborate with executive leadership regarding operational planning staffing budgeting and program development
Participate in quality assurance studies investigations and patient safety initiatives
Maintain relationships with external healthcare agencies advisory boards courts and academic institutions
Support accreditation activities and performance improvement programs
Provide clinical guidance mentorship and supervision to medical staff and trainees as needed
Participate in committees leadership meetings and interdisciplinary case reviews
May provide direct patient care and psychiatric consultation services as required
Qualifications
Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Board Status: Board-Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
Licensure: Active or eligible Connecticut medical license
Experience: Prior leadership experience in a hospital clinic correctional or behavioral health setting preferred
Leadership Skills: Strong administrative organizational communication and clinical leadership abilities
Additional Requirements: Must maintain eligibility for participation in federal healthcare programs
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with accreditation processes quality improvement initiatives academic affiliations forensic psychiatry addiction medicine geriatrics ABI/TBI or related specialty areas is highly valued
