Position: Food Distribution Supervisor - Full Time Food Distribution
100% Grant Funded
Pay Grade: E3 Status: Exempt; Bi-weekly Pay Background Check: Extensive
Hiring Range: $41839.63 - $55483.01 - $66581.26

SUMMARY
The position is responsible for the development and administration of commodities programs funded by the Tribe and other funding agencies. The incumbent will prepare regulations policies and procedures that are in compliance with Tribal Ordinance in addition to the supervision of staff and providing for the collaboration of program with other service departments.
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate Degree in Human Services Business or closely related or work experience of five (5) or more years in a warehouse or receiving department; and
- Three (3) or more years in a supervisory position; and
- Technical skills of an intermediate to advanced user of MS Office software computers and office equipment; and
- Must have a valid drivers license maintained throughout employment and be insurable under the Tribes insurance policy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists members in accessing services of department providing referrals to other tribal programs or outside agencies as necessary.
- Supervises staff and department functions including hiring/termination recommendations staff training and counseling work planning and scheduling.
- Provides information and assists in preparing the annual USDA application for funding. Processes program applications according to established guidelines in the Food and Nutrition Service manual.
- Prepares and maintains regulations policies and procedures that govern assistance programs ultimately presenting to Tribal Ogema for approval. Reviews comprehends and is able to instruct others concerning documents which specify the requirements of the program. Ensures program standard operating procedures (SOPs) are compliant with regulations and ordinances that govern tribal programs.
- Maintains required records and prepares required narrative reports to verify the functions of the program have been fulfilled. Prepares reports for supervisor Ogema Tribal Council and USDA as needed.
- Issues food commodities on a weekly appointment-based schedule.
- Records issuance and received commodities into Automated Inventory System (AIS).
- Orders and receives large quantities of food from USDA ordering system for distribution to eligible program participants.
- Determines fiscal requirements of the department and prepares budgetary recommendations; monitors verifies and reconciles expenditure of budgeted funds consistent with fiscal management policies.
- Maintains inventory and reports to USDA when required; stocks shelves and rotates stock.
- Requisitions of goods and services as needed by the program provides justification of expenses and maintains all expense records.
- Oversees the nutrition education grant and staff ensuring adherence to the grant requirements.
- Operates hand operated lift truck for loading and unloading of commodities.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
- Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of work and complies with all applicable tribal federal or state laws and procedures.
- Represents the Tribes position if required by the Tribal Council Ogema or supervisor at meetings with other tribes or funding agencies and serve at all times as a goodwill ambassador from the Tribe and USDA.
- Travel required to attend mandatory meetings by USDA.
- All other position/department related duties as assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct supervision of staff; responsible for interviewing hiring training rewarding and disciplining of
subordinates in addition to planning assigning and directing work; encourages on-going development of staff.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequent sitting walking reaching bending kneeling or stretching is to be expected. The nature of the work also involves manual dexterity to operate office equipment and while keyboarding. An employee will need normal or corrected to normal range of sight and hearing and will carry work related materials up to seventy-five (75) pounds. The employee will be required to drive a motor vehicle for transportation.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The work environment frequently changes from a climate-controlled environment to one that is exposed for
short periods to outdoor elements of heat humidity cold wet snowy icy and/or windy. The employees work
schedule may periodically need to be flexible and adjusted according to business need. The employee must be able to effectively handle stressful and compromising situations while remaining focused and professional as
well as be able to deal with difficult people without losing perspective. Occasional overnight or local travel will
be necessary to attend meetings or trainings.
