Job Description

As part of the larger Digital Information Systems team works under indirect supervision assists in the maintenance and control of Epic databases; monitor databases; maintain database backup and recovery system; control user access to and all security aspects of enterprise databases. The incumbent will also work to facilitate the successful movement and representation of data around enterprise databases as well as to resolve questions related to all areas of Database Administration on all production platforms supported by the enterprise. Experience with designing databases as well as integration between third party systems is required.

This individual will assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of our standard Project Management Methodology. These activities include the definition of needs benefits and technical strategy; research & development within the project life cycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing testing and rolling out the solutions. Participation in projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project life cycle. Applicants will either need to have valid Epic ODBA certification or will need to complete and pass the required Epic courses.

Contribute to safe quality care by:

  • Create and manage the ODB environments that serve production reporting disaster recovery training and non-production needs.
  • Create and manage Linux based servers and serve multiple functions.
  • Installs and maintains the administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of Mackenzie Healths Epic EMR system.
  • Manages the logins for different types of access including login behavior and working environment configuration.
  • Applies Linux Iris and Epic upgrades and updates to production and non-production environments.
  • Configures and maintains environment copies according to the environment strategy.
  • Responds to emergency and after-hours issues

What must you have

  • . in Computer Science or other technical discipline.
  • ITIL certification is required or commitment to complete within six (6) months from the date of hire.
  • Linux certificate is required or commitment to complete within six (6) months from the date of hire.
  • MS SQL DBA certificate is required or commitment to complete within six (6) months from the date of hire.

What else do you bring

  • 5 years of Data Base experience
  • Iris System Management Experience.
  • Expertise in designing implementing and maintaining High Availability solutions.
  • Experience in designing database applications and integrating with third party systems.
  • Expertise in core SQL Server concepts - performance monitoring/tuning replication partitioning clustering.
  • Expertise in all aspects of SQL Server database security; familiarity with security best practices.
  • Expertise with design and implementation of both OLTP and OLAP database solutions.
  • Familiarity with data modeling and data mining.
  • Familiarity with shelling scripting.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills required. Ability to interact with management and business application owners to communicate status and collect requirements.
  • Production support responsibilities including some on-call rotating scheduling.
  • PIPEDA/PHIPA compliance experience as it relates to network best practices and security as well as managing and complying with PIPEDA/PHIPA network controls.
  • Seeking candidates that is good at troubleshooting data issues self-starter highly motivated and can lead projects
