Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Location: Falmouth MA 02540 Duration: 13 Weeks (Contract) Hours: 36 hours/week Shift: Nights (7:00 PM 7:00 AM) Schedule: Every other weekend rotation; rotating holidays Floating Requirement: May be required to float to Med/Surg Telemetry units based on operational needs and census levels
Position Overview
The ICU Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality patient-centered care through the nursing process including assessment planning implementation and evaluation. The role involves administering medications monitoring patient responses and coordinating care in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and professional nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient assessments (physical psychological social) throughout hospitalization
Develop implement and evaluate individualized care plans
Maintain accurate timely and complete patient documentation in compliance with quality and performance standards
Administer medications and monitor patient responses effectively
Communicate critical patient information to interdisciplinary care teams
Serve as charge nurse when assigned demonstrating leadership and clinical judgment
Act as a resource for staff orientation education and patient care guidance
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient care evaluations
Adhere strictly to safety protocols including bloodborne pathogen and infection control policies
Maintain confidentiality and represent the organization professionally within the hospital and community
Utilize computerized nursing and clinical information systems proficiently
Support ongoing professional development and competency requirements
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Successful completion of required pharmacology and basic arrhythmia assessments
Prior critical care (ICU) experience is required
Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) certification
Completion of an approved de-escalation training course
Demonstrated expertise in:
Hemodynamic monitoring
Ventilator management
Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring
