Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Critical Care Registered Nurse for a Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) assignment. The ideal candidate will have strong critical care experience including the management of fresh heart patients and the ability to thrive in a high-acuity ICU environment.
This role is best suited for experienced travel nurses with a strong background in cardiovascular and post-surgical critical care.
Assignment Details
- Shift: 12-Hour Nights
- Unit: Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU)
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 6
- Common Diagnoses:
- Cardiovascular Surgery patients
- Cardiogenic Shock
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide critical care nursing to post-operative cardiothoracic patients
- Manage fresh heart recovery patients in the CTICU setting
- Monitor hemodynamic status and respond to rapid clinical changes
- Administer medications drips and treatments according to physician orders
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary ICU and surgical teams
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in Epic
- Provide patient and family education and support during critical care treatment
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of CTICU or cardiovascular critical care experience required
- Experience with fresh heart patients is required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
Certifications
- ACLS required
- BLS required
- NIHSS required
