Job Description

Ashley Hall seeks a passionate and dynamic individual to join our team as a Middle School Physical Education Teacher. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Major Responsibilities

The ideal candidate for this position must be able to

  • develop and implement an engaging physical education curriculum for middle school students.

  • incorporate a variety of activities and games to enhance students motor skills coordination and fitness levels.

  • foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes physical activity teamwork and sportsmanship.

  • cultivate a caring environment that supports the academic progress and socio-emotional development of each student.

  • assess students progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development.

  • supervise and ensure the safety of students during physical education classes and extracurricular activities.

  • collaborate with colleagues to integrate physical education concepts across the curriculum in a manner that facilitates the transition to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) curriculum framework.

  • share responsibilities for curriculum development as well as other departmental and divisional priorities including national and international student trips.

  • proactively communicate with students parents and administration about student progress or concerns.

  • serve as a student advisor.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Physical Education or related field (Masters degree preferred).

  • Experience teaching physical education at the middle school level.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Dedication to promoting health and wellness within the school community.

  • Commitment to ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.

  • Willingness to participate in professional development opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid teaching certification/license.

  • CPR and First Aid certification.

  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in physical education instruction.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Strong knowledge of and experience in teaching in the IB MYP curriculum framework is preferred but not a requirement.

Since its founding in 1909 Ashley Hall has empowered young women to think critically act ethically and embrace their world with confidence. The School serves girls kindergarten through grade 12 (and is co-ed in its Early School ages 2 to 5 years). Ashley Hall provides a dynamic education grounded in a Reggio approach in its early School and an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme in its Lower School. It is currently in the strategic phase of a Middle Years Programme candidacy with the intention of pursuing Diploma Programme candidacy thereafter.
