Position Overview:

The Child Care Associate Supervisor is a position responsible for working in partnership with the Child Care Centre Manager in the day-to-day management of a combination YMCA Child Care centre which includes the full day program and before and after school program on site and may include neighbouring schools.

The Child Care Associate Supervisor supports the Child Care Centre Manager educators and volunteers as well as works collaboratively in community partnerships to ensure the delivery of quality child care to infants toddlers and preschool kindergarten and school age children. The Child Care Associate Supervisor will support in all areas of the operation including recruitment budgeting training and on-site addition the Associate Supervisor will assume an active role in the promotion of services offered in the centre develop and nurture relationships with staff children and families and adhere to Ministry and YMCA policies and regulations as defined for licensing purposes.

This position is an entry level position for educators interested in becoming supervisor. The Associate Supervisor is familiar with the requirements of the Child Care & Early Years Act (CCEYA).

What Youll Do:

  • Work in collaboration with the Centre Manager the Associate Supervisor will assist in the day-to-day supervision and mentorship of educators students and volunteers.
  • Supports with the administrative functions pertaining to the management of the child care centre which includes recruitment scheduling resource management and employee management and all other administrative tasks as required in the management of the centre.
  • Plan organize and lead activities related to the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum and A Place to Connect curriculums for children that are designed to encourage intellectual physical and emotional growth.
  • Is knowledgeable of the Child Care & Early Years Act (CCEYA).
  • Depth of knowledge so as to effectively supervise and where necessary correct or redirect educators to ensure curriculum compliance.
  • Support supervise and guide the team in the absence of the Centre Manager which may include performance management where issues arise that contravene licensing requirements
  • Assume frontline responsibilities (i.e. adhere to ratios fill gaps).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with staff children parents Ministry and community contacts.
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained for each child.
  • Assist with set up/cleanup of program room as needed.
  • Utilize appropriate Behaviour Management techniques in all interactions with the children and mentor educators for same.
  • Ensure Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are followed.
  • Attend professional development training and monthly Supervisor meetings as scheduled.

What Youll Bring:

  • Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and a member in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of related work experience within a licensed child care environment.
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office email and/or internet applications.
  • Strong understanding and ability to articulate and implement the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging ministry directions and curriculum.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-Level C.
  • Current Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Access to reliable personal transportation.
