Financial Analyst
United States Attorneys Office (USAO) Northern District of California
Location: San Francisco California
Crossroads is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to support the Financial Litigation Program (FLP). This role works closely with Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) paralegals debt collection agents and other financial professionals in conducting complex financial investigations related to criminal and civil debt collection matters.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Investigations & Analysis
- Conduct detailed financial analyses of individual partnership and corporate debtors.
- Review and analyze:
- Financial statements
- Tax returns
- Bank records
- Credit reports
- Loan applications
- Insurance records
- Real estate escrow documents
- Lending materials
- Trace the movement of funds across complex transactions and financial structures.
- Identify assets available for debt collection or recovery actions.
- Assess debtor ability to satisfy financial obligations and judgments.
Litigation & Collection Support
- Support AUSAs and FLP staff in criminal and civil debt collection investigations.
- Assist with investigations under the Federal Debt Collection Procedures Act.
- Prepare recommendations regarding asset recovery strategies and additional investigative work.
- Draft written discovery documents including:
- Interrogatories
- Requests for production
- Subpoenas
- Coordinate financial information gathering from:
- Financial institutions
- Brokerages
- Businesses
- Family members
- Title companies
- Lenders
Research & Data Analysis
- Conduct database research and evaluate:
- Public records
- Judgment and lien information
- Secretary of State filings
- SEC filings and public financial disclosures
- Analyze financial trends and discrepancies.
- Monitor and reconcile financial data and expenditures.
- Develop charts graphs tables and work breakdown structures to support investigations and reporting.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare comprehensive written financial analysis reports for attorneys and FLP personnel.
- Deliver verbal briefings and status updates as required.
- Maintain accurate documentation and case-related records.
- Assist with monthly reporting and invoicing support activities.
Administrative Support
- Provide ancillary office support functions as needed.
- Maintain compliance with DOJ policies procedures and security requirements.
- Safeguard confidential and sensitive government information.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors degree in:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Business Administration
- Economics
- Or a related field
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of accounting or financial management experience.
- Federal government financial management experience preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
The ideal candidate will possess:

- Analyze large volumes of financial data
- Work independently in a high-volume environment
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Access
- Online databases
- Financial analysis software tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
Work Schedule & Hours
- Standard office hours:
- Monday through Friday
- 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m.
Security Requirements
- Successful completion of a DOJ background investigation is required.
- Position requires compliance with all Department of Justice security policies and procedures.
- Candidate must be able to handle confidential procurement-sensitive and Privacy Act-protected information.
