Maintenance Supervisor (Non-Profit Commercial Building)

Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and hands-onMaintenance Supervisorto support the operations of a non-profit commercial building. This role performs maintenance duties and oversees housekeeping functions to ensure a safe clean and well-maintained environment that supports the organizations mission and daily activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise train and schedule housekeeping staff
- Perform and coordinate maintenance tasks--including basic electrical plumbing carpentry painting and flooring
- Oversee use and care of cleaning and maintenance equipment
- Ensure proper operation of building mechanical systems: generators fire alarm and sprinkler systems HVAC and elevators
- Step in to perform duties when staff are absent or operational needs require
- Conduct routine inspections and address maintenance issues promptly
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and applicable regulations including FDNY and DOB requirements
- Assist in Fire and Emergency Drills
- Maintain records and reports using Microsoft Office and other software employed by the organization
Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of building systems: generators fire alarm systems fire suppression systems HVAC electrical and plumbing
- Supervisory experience in maintenance and/or housekeeping preferred
- Strong teamwork skills and willingness to lead by example
- Physically capable of handling heavy cleaning equipment
- Good communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Language skills sufficient to complete FDNY Fitness Tests related to fire and life safety systems

Work Environment:
This role involves physical activity including lifting bending and operating equipment. The supervisor must be prepared to respond to maintenance needs throughout the building.
