DescriptionJOB SUMMARY: The EH&S Specialist is responsible for supporting environmental health and safety compliance and risk reduction activities across the organization. This role assists with program development regulatory reporting inspections training and continuous improvement initiatives. The EH&S Specialist works cross-functionally with site leaders and employees to maintain a safe and compliant workplace in alignment with Click Bonds QEMS and company policies.
This position is identified as a key position with specific responsibilities input support and alignment with Click Bonds Quality & Environmental Management System (QEMS). The QEMS is the overall framework for the companys policies and operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct inspections audits and risk assessments in support of ISO 14001 OSHA and environmental programs.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of safety programs such as LOTO hazard communication PPE and ergonomics.
- Manage and maintain SDS databases and chemical inventories; ensure compliance with GHS labeling.
- Support hazardous waste accumulation area management waste characterization and shipping documentation.
- Monitor air water and waste discharges and support compliance with applicable permits and regulations.
- Participate in incident investigations and assist in root cause analysis and corrective action tracking.
- Conduct safety training and onboarding for new hires and contractors.
- Administer data entry and reporting for EHS metrics and regulatory submissions (e.g. Tier II TRI).
- Perform industrial hygiene screening (noise dust VOCs) under the direction of EHS Director or IH consultant.
- Coordinate safety meetings employee engagement campaigns and compliance calendar actions.
- Support emergency preparedness planning and emergency response efforts
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
- Knowledge of OSHA EPA DOT RCRA and ISO 14001 standards.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with EHS data systems preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Occupational Health & Safety Industrial Hygiene or related field.
- 24 years of relevant EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification required (or must obtain within 6 months)
- HAZWOPER 24 or 40 certification preferred.
MATHEMATICAL & SCIENCE SKILLS:
- Ability to apply basic algebra and perform unit conversions (e.g. mg/m³ ppm lbs/day).
- Understanding of scientific concepts related to environmental releases exposure limits and chemical hazards.
- Competent in data logging charting and interpreting trends for safety performance and compliance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Ability to walk manufacturing floors daily and lift up to 40 pounds.
- May involve work on ladders elevated surfaces or in confined spaces.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
- Safety shoes safety glasses hearing protection and other PPE required in certain areas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- While the general work environment is a typical office this position requires regular access to all departments and buildings/properties. This includes areas without temperature control (heat/cold) high noise areas dusts oily flooring etc.
