The Learning Strategist is a versatile educator and curriculum developer responsible for developing delivering and sustaining experiences for the Career Discovery and Pathways initiative that activate OMSIs strategic frameworks across programs and experiences. Responsibilities include:
- Leading program delivery and supporting program design for the Career Discovery and Pathways initiative;
- serving as a subject-matter expert to co-develop program curriculum align resources and integrate best practices from industry higher education and informal learning.
- supervising and mentoring program participants;
- cultivating and stewarding partnerships to support co-created inclusive programming.
By developing strong relationships with program participants and initiative stakeholders the Learning strategist will serve as a liaison between OMSI and external initiative partners to strategize and coordinate opportunities to strengthen and expand partnerships and create more opportunities for these initiative programs. This role will have a primary role in the early and continued development of short and long-term programs and support participant engagement and well-being. The Learning Strategist aligns engagement approaches industry focuses and short and long-term strategy for assigned programming to ensure learning experience goals are met and key programming operates in a safe culturally responsive and sustainable manner. While this is a key role for program and content development the Learning Strategist predominately works in a teaching and programmatic delivery role leading experiences that moves OMSIs Career Discovery and Pathways Initiative forward to help youth and emerging adults build skills to help them prepare for and enter into high-demand industry careers.
Successful incumbents will be responsible for but not limited to:
Program and Content Development
- Lead program delivery and support program design for the Career Discovery and Pathways initiative
- Facilitate listening sessions and co-design processes with industry partners higher education institutions to help us inform design and execute programming for school year summer and temporal sessions
- Develop content and curriculum for Career Discovery and Pathways programs that focus on specific designated industry focuses technical competency acquisition and professional identity exploration and formation.
- Design and implement evaluation tools that will help inform program administrators on program outcome progress and improvement as well as alignment of participant experiences.
Strategy and Planning
- Works closely with the Director of Campus and Museum Engagement and other key collaborators to design and implement program frameworks engagement plans and long-term strategies that grow and/or deepen audience engagement and support new earned and contributed revenue pipelines
- Researches and incorporates best practices from experiential workforce development career coaching wrap-around services informal and formal science education and equity-focused pedagogies with a focus on teen and emerging adult audiences.
Program Delivery:
- Oversees day-to-day logistics of cohort-based learning and serves as a primary contact and resource for program participants.
- Designs and delivers industry and STEAM-focused culturally responsive programs and experiences;
- Creates documents and disseminates program curricula training guides etc. for transparency and sustainability;
- Leads department staff in producing new content and experiences across a variety of delivery platforms.
Staff Management and Mentorship:
- Manages assigned Career Discovery and Pathways staff and volunteers providing clear priorities schedules work plans and ongoing feedback to support performance and growth;
- Designs and implements coaching plans to build staff capacity in content development and facilitation. Provides ongoing mentorship to ensure staff facilitate high-quality experiences.
- Industry and Community Partner Stewardship:
- Builds and sustains mutually beneficial partnerships that strengthen OMSI initiatives and career pathway programs;
- Strategize and coordinate opportunities to strengthen and expand partnerships and create more opportunities for these initiative programs
- Be a resource and help participants navigate credential credit or certificate earning requirements and next steps.
- Connects with partners to explore new content tools and technologies for programming.
- Leads outreach to increase awareness and participation in assigned programming areas.
- Represents OMSI in professional networks and supports development/fundraising initiatives.
Budget Management:
- Collaborates with Director of Director of Museum and Campus Engagement to draft and forecast operating budget for assigned programs and projects utilizes restricted funds ($10k to $300k) for ongoing support and strategic advancement of assigned programs;
- Manages monthly programming budgets with an expected annual expenditure of $150000;
- Collaborates with Development and Enterprise Systems teams to support fundraising efforts data collection and grant reporting on a monthly quarterly and annual basis.
