This role is part of Alcons Engineering function a team focused on improving quality processes products packaging and materials across our business to help deliver brilliant outcomes. The Associate Repair & Maintenance Engineering (Science/Tech/Engineering Path) is primarily responsible for applying technical knowledge to support maintenance programs for facilities and equipment. You will coordinate maintenance work review specifications and participate in equipment installation.
In this role a typical day will include:
Machining
- Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machine tools (mills lathes drill presses grinders).
- Interpret engineering drawings blueprints and specifications.
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers calipers gauges and indicators.
- Machine parts to required tolerances finishes and dimensions.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust tooling speeds and feeds as required.
Fabrication
- Lay out cut form and assemble metal components using hand and power tools.
- Perform welding processes such as MIG TIG and Stick (as required).
- Fabricate frames brackets guards fixtures platforms and structural components.
- Repair damaged equipment and modify existing structures to improve reliability and safety.
- Ensure weld quality meets applicable standards and specifications.
Maintenance & Support
- Support emergency breakdown repairs and improvement work.
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering.
- Perform preventive maintenance on shop equipment and tools.
WHAT YOULL BRING TO ALCON:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- The ability to fluently read write understand and communicate in English
- 3 Years of Relevant Experience
- Location: Onsite Houston TX
- Schedule: Monday to Friday 9 to 5:30pm
- Travel Requirements: 0 10%
- Relocation Assistance: Not Available

Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- CNC machining experience
- Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent)
- Experience with CMMS (e.g. Maximo)
- Oncall or shift work may be required
