Job Summary
Primary Purpose
To provide swim lessons private or group to children and adults of all levels and abilities based on American Red Cross ( ARC ) standards and program requirements.
Essential Functions
Provide swim lesson for patrons of beginning to advanced skill levels. Responsible for leading a group/individual in swim lesson activity with proper oversight to successfully integrate the lesson in a safe manner reducing risk of injury. Work with varying age groups with varying levels of skills and abilities. Instructs and evaluates swimmers with the ability to curtail instruction to the needs and abilities of the students. Ability to be punctual organized approachable and energetic. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience on a swim team or have passed the American Red Cross level 5 of swim lessons.
Preferred Qualifications
American Red Cross Lifeguard American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (will provide training if not yet obtained prior to start date). Prior experience of instructing swim lessons. Former aquatics athletes. Knowledge of and the ability to demonstrate skills provided in swim lessons offered. Ability to demonstrate skills as required for class content and use teaching aids such as kickboards diving rings lifejackets etc. to compliment instruction. Ability to work independently. Ability to positively interact with general public to command attention and deliver instruction effectively. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice equity and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
