As a Junior DevOps Engineer in our team your primary responsibility will be to support the testing and deployment of software systems used by Swift Customers. You will work closely with developers testers and other stakeholders to analyze specifications and technical design to identify test plans cases and execute them.

Your role will involve configuring and maintaining the application environment identifying defects troubleshooting and ensuring timely resolutions of issues to keep up the smooth rollout of quality software in production.

With your expertise in scripting languages like Python and Bash you will automate routine tasks test cases and contribute to improving system performance testing and reliability.

In this role your responsibilities will amongst others be:

  • Perform day-to-day systems administration/management activities that may include initial set-up configuration testing of hardware or software platforms user account administration requests and/or customization to maintenance and upgrade projects.

  • Resolve problem management issuesregardingsystem/operations byidentifyingcorrective measures/ improvements. May include installations set-ups errormessage online transactions system/application status operational proceduresin accordance withthe service level agreement.

  • Participate indevelopmentand maintenance of test tools.

  • Interact with network services software systems engineering and /or applications developmentin order torestore availability of services and/oridentifyroot cause of problems.

  • Ensure user satisfaction by providing preventive maintenancetroubleshootingand problem resolution services

  • Mayparticipatein the planning and implementation of system/network projects/enhancements ensuring adherence to documented processes and procedures and risk mitigation efforts.

  • May automate administrative tasks to improve the monitoring of applications ensuring effectiveness in line with customer needs and departmental policies

  • Mayparticipateand organize environment testing and installations/upgrades. Maintain records of deployment andidentifyproblems.

  • Manage and coordinate the problem and change management processes including coordination of the team products/projects such as schedules release planning and release managementcostsand the coordination of the change management process flow. Validate newly created cases and change requests for accuracy and completeness and forward toappropriate person(s) depending on the product.

  • Review moderately complex problem situations andparticipatein the identification of opportunities forimprovement toprocessesproceduresor tools.

  • Acquiredevelopandmaintaintechnical and product knowledge in pursuance of the aboveobjectives.

We are seeking professionals with:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Scienceor related discipline

  • 1-3years of hands-on experience contributing to software development teams

  • Experience working in a Linux environment

  • Proficiencyin scripting languages such as Shell Python or Perl

  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible

  • Experience with source code repositories such as GitHub and Bitbucket

  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and KVM

The estimated salary range for a new hire in this position in Virginia is $66960.00 USD Annual MINIMUM to $124354.00 USD Annual MAXIMUM. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge skills experience and location.
