Description

We are seeking a strong researcher with expertise in Chemical Engineering and a clear potential or documented record of international research excellence. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to highquality engineeringdriven research teaching and supervision and to strengthen the departments research profile through collaboration with engineering disciplines industry and applied research partners.

The position involves research in an engineeringoriented problemdriven environment where chemical engineering competences are applied in close interaction with other engineering fields such as process engineering biotechnology biochemical engineering environmental and energy engineering. The candidate is expected to take an active role in research development external funding activities technology implementation and education at bachelor master and PhD levels.

Researchand Teachingprofile

Applicants should have a strong background in chemical engineering methods process design and systems engineering and experience applying these competences to realworld engineering challenges. Research is expected to be solutionoriented with relevance for industrial processes production systems and the green transition.

Relevant researchand teachingareas include one or more of the following:

  • Catalysis and reaction kinetics
  • Chemical Biochemical and/or Waste Waterreactor designpreferablyincluding process upstreaming and downstreaming
  • Extraction separation and purificationtechnologies for full-scale industrial applications
  • Development and application of chemical engineering solutions for sustainable industrial production pollution mitigation and reduction of emissions and climate impacts from industry and agriculture
  • Upscaling of processes and methods from laboratory to pilot and industrial scale

Collaboration with industry and participation in applied or implementationoriented research projects are considered strong assets.

As the position will include teaching in the core chemical engineering disciplines it is important that the applicant master these core disciplines and has an interest in developing these competences both from pedagogical and content point of view.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering Biochemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field.

We emphasize candidates with strong engineering competences demonstrated ability to work in collaborative engineering environments and experience with translating chemical engineering knowledge into scalable processes technologies or industrial solutions.

Assistant/Associate Professor

  • Documented research experience beyond PhD level within chemical engineering
  • A solid and developing publication record with clear engineering contribution
  • Demonstrated teaching and supervision experience within chemical engineering education
  • Documented or clear potential for attracting external research funding

Professor

  • Documented international research leadership and scientific impact within chemical engineering
  • A strong and sustained publication record at a high international level
  • Significant experience with externally funded research preferably including industryoriented or applied projects
  • Documented excellence in teaching and supervision of MSc and PhD students within chemical engineering
  • Experience with academic leadership research coordination or strategic development of engineering research environments is an advantage

For both levels applicants must be fluent in English and able to teach and supervise students in English.

The Department of Green Technology

The Department of Green Technology at SDU is a crossdisciplinary engineering environment focusing on technologies and systems for a sustainable future. Research activities address industrial processes resource efficiency environmental performance and system integration with strong engagement in external collaboration with industry and public stakeholders.

SDU Chemical Engineering

SDU Chemical Engineering focuses on the development design optimisation and implementation of chemical and process engineering solutions that support sustainable industrial production and the green transition. Research spans the full engineering value chain from process modelling and laboratory development to pilotscale validation and industrial implementation.

The section combines core chemical engineering principles with applied research and close collaboration with industry and technology partners. Education is strongly rooted in classical and modern chemical engineering disciplines with emphasis on process design scaleup systems integration and sustainabilitydriven engineering solutions.

Employment terms

The successful applicant will be employed at the Department of Green Technology SDU Chemical Engineering in Odense.

Employment will take place in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations for academics in the state and the job structure for academic staff at Danish universities.

Salary is negotiated based on qualifications and level of appointment. Please check links for more information on salary(only available in Danish) and taxation.

Appointment as a full Professor or Associate Professor is permanent. Appointment as an Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering is temporary for 3 years.

The person employed in the position may based on a specific individual managerial assessment be exempted from time registration also known as a self-organiser.
