Description of Work
This position supervises and performs technical electrical construction maintenance and repair work in support of facility operations across the Western Region for the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections. The role oversees a team of electrical personnel coordinates daily assignments and participates in handson tasks involving commercial and industrial electrical systems. Working within the Division of Engineering Construction and Maintenance the position supports routine and projectbased work applies established maintenance standards and ensures safe compliant and reliable facility systems within correctional environments.Key Duties Include:
Supervises plans and evaluates the work of electrical staff and supports recruitment training and performance management activities.
Performs and oversees electrical installations repairs and upgrades for commercial and industrial systems across multiple facilities.
Coordinates work schedules assignments and priorities to support routine maintenance and construction project needs.
Reviews work order requests monitors progress and ensures timely completion of tasks.
Maintains inventory control for electrical tools equipment materials and replacement parts.
Conducts facility inspections to identify electrical maintenance needs safety hazards and system reliability issues.
Provides technical guidance to management regarding repair strategies system performance and project planning.
Supports collaboration with contractors regulatory officials and internal stakeholders during maintenance and construction activities.

Demonstrated experience with reading/interpreting construction plans and documents
Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA standards State Construction Office guidelines North Carolina Building

Ability to use MS Office (Word and Excel) and willingness to learn new software programs
A valid NC Drivers License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire

The Support Services Division oversees the operations and infrastructure that sustain facilities within the Department of Adult Correction. Responsibilities include facility maintenance fleet and warehouse management food services construction and renovation projects and energy efficiency. This division plays a vital role in supporting daily operations and long-term planning.
About the Division of Engineering Construction and Maintenance (DECM)
The Division of Engineering Construction and Maintenance (DECM) coordinates all North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (NCDAC) construction and renovation efforts working closely with the State Construction Office to bring projects to life. Werepresentthe department on key property and building matters while keeping facilities running smoothly through expert support for mechanical electrical kitchen and other essential systems. With a dedicated team specializing in design project management and sustainability DECM helps ensure our facilities stay safe efficient and ready to serve.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four (4) years of progressive experience in facility maintenance or construction including experience in at least three (3) building or mechanical trades including one (1) year of supervisory experience in construction maintenance and/or repair of buildings and facilities
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Requirements
May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82 subpart F.
