Job Summary:

Provide physical therapy services to individuals experiencing impairments functional limitations or changes in physical function and health due to injury disease or other causes. Focus on improving functional outcomes and overall quality of life. Provide education to other medical professionals and provide prevention and wellness services including screenings and health promotions.

Education & Experience

Certifications Licenses or Registrationrequired:

Physical Therapist from the Mississippi Board of Physical Therapy required by the hire date.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Possess knowledge of principles methods and procedures for diagnosing treating and rehabilitating physical dysfunctions as well as knowledge of anatomy physiology and kinesiology. Skilled in performing manual physical therapy treatment programs with the ability to observe assess and record symptoms reactions and patient progress. Able to instruct and motivate patients and to safely lift and physically manipulate them when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Synthesize complex medical data to administer appropriate tests and examine patients physical and cognitive status.

  • Demonstrate sound clinical reasoning to develop and update a comprehensive plan of care in collaboration with the patient and family considering the patients age lifestyle and functional goals.

  • Ensure clinical practice reflects critical thinking effective communication and safe patient care.

  • Utilize appropriate methods materials and treatment techniques to support effective learning and monitor patient and family responses to adapt education programs as needed.

  • Reassess patient status and revise interventions and goals as appropriate discharging patients when goals are met or medical necessity is no longer indicated.

  • Maintain timely legible and efficient documentation that meets professional and departmental standards and provide clear accurate oral reports.

  • Utilize clinical judgment to assess and recommend appropriate assistive devices prosthetics or orthotics to improve functional status.

  • Provide training and supervision in therapy techniques and objectives for students and other medical staff.

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with the healthcare team supervisors and peers to optimize patient care and team productivity.

  • Consistently meet established patient care productivity standards.
