Communications Assistant
Job Summary
MP Kibble is seeking a full-time Communications Assistant to join his Ottawa team.

Key Responsibilities
MP Schedule Management
- Coordinate and manage the Member of Parliaments Ottawa calendar including scheduling meetings organizing appointments and preparing and distributing materials and invitations.
- Book travel and flight.
Social Media & Digital Content
- Manage and publish content across social media platforms.
- Monitor social media performance and engagement recommending improvements.
- Capture and create photo video and graphic content consistent with the Members brand.
- Design graphics tailored for digital print and social media platforms.
Rapid Response & Issues Management
- Monitor news and social media to identify emerging issues.
- Develop timely responses including statements and media lines.
- Assess reputational and political risks.
Message Discipline & Approvals
- Ensure all communications align with House of Commons guidelines and protocols.
- Coordinate review and approval processes.
- Maintain consistency across all messaging and platforms.
Qualifications :
Education:
- Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in communications journalism business administration or a related field.
Experiences:
- 1-3 years of experience in communications media journalism or a parliamentary setting.
- Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to translate complex policy issues into clear and compelling messaging.
- Sound political judgment and discretion in a high-pressure environment.
- Digital content creation and online engagement including experience with design tools (e.g. Canva Publisher) email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailchimp) website content management (e.g. Squarespace) and social media platforms.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines with accuracy and professionalism.
Assets:
- Experience volunteering or working for a political organization (Federal Provincial Municipal or other).
- Knowledge of the riding of Cowichan-Malahat-Langford.
