Westhaven is seeking a dedicated Caseworker to support and advocate for Children and Young People living with significant disability to live life the way they choose.

About the role
As a Caseworker you will coordinate casework responsibilities for children and young people (CYP) within Westhaven.

Key responsibilities

• Work as part of a Therapeutic Care Team managing the casework cycle for children and young people in care

• Ensure Case Plans are developed reviewed and implemented within set timeframes

• Maintain regular contact with children and young people seek their views and opinions and monitor their wellbeing

• Ensure that data is collected and recorded in a timely way

• Ensure that Casework is conducted consistent with the requirements of the NSW Office of the Childrens Guardian (OCG)

To be on the forefront of this opportunity you will:

• Have knowledge and understanding of the Children and Young Person (Care and Protection) Act 1998 NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care and trauma informed practices

• Understand the supports and issues of children and young people living with significant disabilities

• Have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal communities families and children specifically in relation to the placement of Aboriginal children and young people in OOHC

• Be proficient in report writing have demonstrated ability to develop organise and maintain records in a timely manner using client management databases and Google Suite (or similar)

• Have highly developed organisational skills communication skills and conflict resolutions skills

Highly desirable attributes include:

• Experience in case management child protection child welfare practice or related field

• Experience working with people with a disability

• Ability to coordinate the development implementation and review Case Plans for children in out-of-home care

Essential requirements of the role

• Bachelor degree in Psychology Social Work or a relevant Behavioural Science; or be of Indigenous decent and be willing to obtain qualifications

• A current NSW Drivers licence

• Undertake a National Criminal Record Check

• The ability to obtain and maintain a paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)

• The ability to obtain and maintain a National Disability Insurance Scheme Workers Check (NDISWC)
