Job Summary
Job Title:Animal Control Clerk
Department: Sheriffs Office
Salary: $20.77 - $26.29 per hour depending on experience
General Position Summary
Responsible for handling all Sheriffs Office Animal Control non-emergency incoming phone calls and contact from citizens at the reception counter in a professional manner and performs clerical duties in the Animal Control Division of the Sheriffs Office.

- Education Certification & Experience
- High school or GED certificate and prior experience in general office work; extensive experience with public contact and answering multi-line phones desirable. Experience and knowledge of State/County animal laws and procedures desirable.
- Valid Drivers License
- Ability to be certified as LEDS operator.
- Ability to obtain Notary.
- Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certification.
- Ability to be sworn as Civilian Clerk.
- Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Language Skills - ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Skills - ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance.
- Reasoning Ability - ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills - to perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Internet software and Word Processing software.

- While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel; climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and receive/handle dogs brought into the Animal Control office by the public to be transferred to the Shelter.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with frequent exposure to barking dogs.
Work Schedule
The normal work schedule is 40 hours per week; exact schedules are assigned by management. It is the attendance standards of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work. Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift arriving late or leaving early for whatever reason may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness injury or other personal emergency.
