Job Summary

NYC Parks is the steward of nearly 30000 acres of land 14 percent of New York City including more than 5000 individual properties ranging from Idlewild Marsh and Forest Park to trail networks and green infrastructure. The Division of Environment and Planning aims to protect restore and expand New York Citys green spaces and natural areas to maximize their benefits for environmental and community health and resilience. The Natural Resources Group within Environment and Planning manages over 10000 acres of natural areas across the five boroughs including forests grasslands and wetlands and has secured tens of millions of dollars of grant from state federal and private sources over the past decades to fund the restoration and management across these ecosystems.
Major Responsibilities
-Under general direction with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment assist Director and Deputy Directors with the management of the Natural Resources Capital Design and Construction Team including the following ongoing tasks:
-Using MS Planner track project schedules from funding inception through design procurement construction and close-out. Continually improve Planner templates create and run reports when requested train and support project managers on standard operating procedures.
-Serve as a liaison to other internal divisions including Capital Budget Capital Procurement GIS and Analytics and teams within the Natural Resources Group.
-Monitor project funding during all phases. Draft and track budget documents including CPs (certificate to proceed) and supporting documents. Review budget documents at key points during the annual budgeting cycle. Assist with the management of grant funds and communicate with grantors as required.
-Monitor Unifier (the divisions project management software) for missed tasks and incomplete information. Promptly notify managers of deficiencies. Prepare Unifier reports as necessary for team Chiefs and Borough review.
-Assess analyze and compile efficient ways to manage and store documents/ records in Microsoft 365 applications such as SharePoint and Teams. Communicate these efficiencies within the team and to others within the Natural Resources Group. Identify ways to connect project data across different software.
-Assist with the implementation of Agency initiatives. Ensure long-range and overall program goals are followed and implemented.
-Work closely with the Director and Deputy Directors to develop manage and evaluate priority initiatives organize team meetings and create a thriving team environment.
-Attend interagency meetings as directed by the Director. Take notes and follow-up with the team.
-Assist the Director and Deputy Directors with other tasks and projects as requested.

Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
