About this Position

The Academic Advisor provides holistic student-centered guidance to a caseload of students supporting their academic planning course selection and progress toward graduation. This role assesses student needs interprets university policies and makes appropriate referrals while elevating complex issues to advising leadership as needed. The advisor proactively promotes student success through ongoing communication directed outreach monitoring academic performance accurate documentation within university systems and participation in standard university-wide events including Orientation and Enrollment (O&E) and Commencement. They guide students through essential processesincluding forms appeals and procedural requirementswhile ensuring timely clear responses to collaboration with colleagues and academic departments the advisor contributes to student success initiatives offers feedback on curriculum and policy and may serve as a mentor within the advising team. The position also includes teaching 12 sections of UNIV 1111 and participating in professional development and campus engagement activities that advance the overall student experience. Required Qualifications

• Bachelors
  A masters degree may be substituted for up to three (3) years of required degrees maywarrantadjustment to years ofexperienceequivalency. (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Academic Advisor I: Bachelors Degree and zero two years of experience in a comparable position.
  • Academic Advisor II: Bachelors Degree and two to three years of experience incomparableposition. Teach up to two sections of Univ IIII.
  • Academic Advisor III: Bachelors Degree and three to five years of experience in a comparable up to two sections of Univ IIII.
  • Senior Academic Advisor I: Bachelors Degree and five to seven years of experience in a comparable position. Teach up to two sections of Univ IIII.
  • Senior Academic Advisor II: Bachelors Degree and seven years of experience in a comparable position. Teach up to two sections of Univ IIII. Administrative experience that could include responsibility with unit programs and/or student groups; supervisory experience to include interviewingtrainingand development etc. of employees and/or student leaders; and/or coordination of special projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters

  A graduate degree in Higher Education Academic Counseling or Advising or related field; an undergraduate degree in Engineering Architecture or Engineering Technology

• Professional experience as an academic advisor or in an industry closely related to CEAT majors.

  • Strong knowledge of academic programs degree requirements curricula and course prerequisites including the ability to interpret academic records and placement information.
  • Understanding ofuniversity academic policies procedures and regulations particularly those related to graduation enrollment andtransfercredit.
  • Proficiencywithadvisingtechnologies and student information systems and ability to use data to track student progress and informadvisingdecisions.

  Advising Counseling & Student Support Skills

  • Ability to provide academic counseling and developmental guidance including support related to courseselection goal setting career exploration and academic challenges.
  • Skill inidentifyingand supporting at-risk students providing proactive outreach referrals and follow up to promote persistence.

  Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Strong analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills to address academic issues evaluate petitions and support decision making.

  Organizational & Professional Skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and staying current with advising and higher education best practices.
