Job Purpose
As a Principal Engineer youwill researchdesignand develop mechatronic systemsandmachinecomponentdesigns insupportoffood processand packagingdevelopment projects. The candidate will create conceptual designs perform mechanical performance analysis develop detailed designsandoversee productfabricationandtesting.
ThePrincipalEngineer willbe responsible forproviding analyticalempiricaland numerical modeling support ranging from the first principles analysis via predictive computational models to CAD designs which will strongly contribute to the advancement of our key businessobjectives.Theywillalsoplaycriticalrole in developingintegratinganalyzingdesigning components and systems in support of the development of novel food processesand packages.
EssentialFunctions &Responsibilities
Conduct FEandCAE simulationsof foodprocessingand packagingparts to evaluate design performance against known thermal structural fatigue and related engineering targets and specifications.
Participate in root cause investigations using CAE studies toidentifyand implement improvements and resolutions.
Perform basic computational engineering analyses (structural thermalfluid dynamicsdesign optimizationetc.) offoodprocessing andpackagingcomponents.
Demonstrates creativity and ingenuity in applying engineering principles and practices.
Design and build functional prototypes devicespackagesand test beds per project needs through 3D printing (additive manufacturing) and conventionalmachiningequipment such as CNC.
Assist Engineering Team in Design prototypes and feasibility models forproof-of-concepttesting.
Originate specifications drawings control documents verification and validation plans procedures reports and other documentation in support of design and development activities
Identifythe best tools to effectively solve engineering problems and to develop/optimize designs byleveragingappropriatemix offirst-principlesanalyticalcomputationaland experimental methods.
Generate robustfunctional and mechanicaldesigns (systemssubsystemand components) byestablishingdesign space with design options and tradeoffs managing critical parameters using design for manufacture principles as well as geometric dimensioning andtolerancingtools.
Expected Experience& Required Skills
Bachelors degree in mechanicalengineeringrequired.
6-8yearsofCAE /FEAEngineering productprocessand packagingsimulation experience.
Familiar with 3D CAD solid modeling codes such as: SolidWorks AbaqusCatiaetc.
Multi material (plastic paper metal)parts designexpertisealong with excellentunderstanding of key unit operationsinfood processing and packaging.
Strength in scientific and engineering fundamentals based onfirst principlesunderstanding including critical thinking and systematicproblem-solvingskills is an essential requirement to be successful in this position
Mechanical aptitude in working with lab equipment fixtures and measuring devices
Outstandingcollaborationsskills.
Ability to thrive in afast-pacedenvironment managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Work Environment & Schedule
This position is considered aNormal office environment with moderate travel to customer locations stores manufacturing facilities etc.; offices are open workspaces

New Hire Base Salary Range:
$104200.00 - $130200.00Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidates geographic region job-related knowledge skills and experience among other factors
