Schedule
- Full-Time
- 4 days per week (approximately 32 hours)
- Office hours generally 7:45 AM 4:00 PM
- Hours may begin as early as 6:45 AM on anesthesia days
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Surgical Dental Assistant with at least 2 years of surgical dental assisting experience to join our specialty practice. The ideal candidate is dependable detail-oriented team-focused and genuinely enthusiastic about surgical dentistry.
This role is essential to maintaining efficient clinical workflows and delivering outstanding patient experiences. You will provide direct chairside support during surgical procedures assist with advanced imaging and patient education and help ensure seamless day-to-day operations within the practice.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist the doctor chairside during periodontal implant and surgical procedures
- Prepare and break down operatories and surgical instruments
- Take high-quality digital radiographs CBCT scans and IOS scans
- Monitor patients post-anesthesia and assist with ongoing surgical support
- Review medical histories record blood pressure medications and medical alerts
- Ensure consent forms and patient records are completed accurately
- Educate patients on procedures medications and pre/post-operative care
- Maintain sterilization and infection control protocols in compliance with OSHA/HIPAA standards
- Fabricate Essix retainers
- Assist with implant procedures All-on-Four cases overdentures and surgical guide workflows
- Manage clinical inventory and maintain surgical equipment
- Make patient follow-up calls as needed
- Assist with opening and closing duties
- Support team members to maintain a positive efficient office environment
Qualifications
- 2 years of surgical dental assisting experience
- Strong knowledge of periodontal and oral surgery terminology
- Experience with implant procedures All-on-Four and overdentures
- Proficiency taking impressions
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and professionalism
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic clinical environment
Preferred
- Radiology certification
- CPR certification
- Dental assisting and/or surgical assisting certificate
- Experience with SoftDent software
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand walk bend and twist throughout the workday
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
- Manual dexterity to frequently handle instruments and assist patients safely
