Veterinary Assistant H

Village Veterinary Hospital in Bosque Farms NM (just 20 minutes south of Albuqureque) is looking for a Veterinary Assistant. Would prefer someone with experience in the veterinary field. We are a true mixed animal practice working on most small animals equine bovine sheep pigs llamas and alpacas.

Salary: $15 $20 per hour depending on experience education certifications.

Schedule: Hospital is open Monday Tuesday Wednesday Friday 8:30 am 5:30 pm Thursday and Saturday 1/2 days 8:30 am 12 pm. Closed on Sunday and major holidays.

Village Veterinary Hospitalis a long-standing mixed animal hospital with deep ties to the community located in Bosque Farms New Mexico. With a deeply loyal clientele this hospital is always busy and utilizes all associates to the highest level of their skills. Our clinic treats small animals (60%) large animals (40%) as well as emergencies. We offer full-service veterinary medical treatment ranging from preventive medicine dental cleanings in-house laboratory pharmacy digital x-rays digital ultrasound house calls and emergency surgical care.

Looking for a long term team member preferable with:

1 years of veterinary clinical experience as a veterinary assistant

Knowledge of industry tools and equipment

Passion for working with large and small animals and their owners

Experience with proper animal handling and restraint for a variety of species

Ability to perform nursing care in a hospital or ranch setting

Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare

Understands the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills

Dental procedure experience scaling polishing extractions suturing

Skilled in IV Catheter placement urinary catheter placement applying casts bandages and splints

Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience including intubation monitoring pre-operative and post-operative care

Laboratory skills including cytology set-up and interpretation

Diagnostic experience including digital radiology dental radiology and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis
