Chief Financial Officer

We are recruiting for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to support our Sacramento-based client a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to improving lives across the region. This executive leader will oversee all financial strategy operations and systems ensuring strong fiscal stewardship and long-term organizational sustainability.

• Hybrid 2 days onsite in Sacramento
• Salary range: $180000-$200000 DOE

Key Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for all financial operations including budgeting forecasting accounting audit coordination and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards and all regulatory requirements.
• Lead financial planning and analysis to support organizational goals program expansion and long-term sustainability.
• Oversee cash flow management investment strategies and financial risk mitigation.
• Partner with the CEO Board of Directors and senior leadership to support strategic planning and organizational decision-making.
• Manage and mentor finance staff fostering a culture of accountability accuracy and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with program development and operations teams to ensure financial transparency and effective resource allocation.
• Support grant management restricted funds tracking and donor reporting requirements.
• Oversee financial systems process improvements and technology modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or related field; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
• 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience including executive-level oversight.
• Finance experience required; familiarity with fund accounting and grant compliance strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated success leading budgeting forecasting and financial reporting in a complex multi-entity environment.
• Strong analytical strategic planning and communication skills.
• Experience partnering with executive leadership and boards.
• Proven ability to lead teams manage change and strengthen financial infrastructure.
