About the Role
St Vincents offers a unique and personalized Mental Health GraduateEnrolledNurse Program thatprovidesthe opportunity for a long and fulfilling career in mental health.St Vincents Mental Health provide ongoing specialist treatment and support to meet the identified needs of consumers who suffer with a serious mental illness and associatedhigh levelof recovery support needs in thecities of Yarra and Boroondara.During your graduate year you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills in a supportive environment working closely with your preceptor and the opportunitytoparticipatein group supervision.
Allgraduates will have an opportunity to rotate to different areas of the service subject to clinical need and skill mix.Rotationsmayinclude:the Adult Acute Inpatient Unit DePaul House Group Program Footbridge CCU Clarendon and Hawthorn Community Clinics.
You willbe requiredto work a rotating roster including night shift.
These positions are0.8 EFTwith regular funded study days
You will be trained in the use of key recoverytools andwill be encouraged to develop your own creative recovery-orientated carestrategiesand you will work with our Lived Experience workforce.
The graduateenrollednurse willparticipatein the mandatory training program that has been specifically designed toassistthe graduate to develop their skills and knowledge in relation to mental health nursing over12 months.
Thereare20paid study days offered throughout the program toassistyour growth as a well-roundedclinician.
The graduate must complete the clinical competencies provided as part of the program at the identified time intervals as set out in their training manuals.
All competenciesmust be achieved.
Ongoing employment if successful in theclinical aspects of thegraduate program
Duties include:
Supporting consumers throughout their recovery journeysand working alongside the multidisciplinary team
Actively upholding a culture of hope by using optimistic language supportingpeopleand celebrating consumers recovery efforts;
Supporting consumers with available resources to achieve their recovery goals through education and support around medication copingstrategiesand symptom management
Actively challenging stigmatizing attitudesdiscriminationand social exclusionin line with the Recovery Model of Mental Health Care.
Participating in consumer assessment care planning and discharge planning.
Classifications for these positions will be Psychiatric Enrolled Nurse Level 1
Your Contribution
Diploma ofnursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Current Nursing Registration with AHPRA
A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History check/NDIS Worker Screening check or willing to obtain
