Under direct supervision primarily performs basic research or lab activities similar to a Research Assistant 1 or Lab Aide

Research at the OHSU-SOD will include not only basic bench work in the laboratory but also learning how to design experiments:

• Independently using instrumentation and performing basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting and buffering solutions with a pH meter
• Generating and analyzing data from experiments and collected health surveys
• The summer will include lab meetings and learning how to keep a lab notebook and daily log of activities

• Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in High school
• Demonstratable record of reliable attendance punctuality and proven successful performance
• Demonstrate ability to read write and understand written and oral instructions in English
• One year of high school level sciences such as biology or chemistry
• Know how to use basic instrumentation in a laboratory and calculate basic math equations used to make buffers
