POSITION FUNCTION
Participate in the installation maintenance and removal of road markings and sign and posts and removal of graffiti.
KEY DUTIES
Perform any combination of tasks pertinent to the installation maintenance and removal of road features such as painted road and curb markings and symbols signs signposts pavement markers and bollards; identify required maintenance; provide instructions and information to other staff and contractors as required; excavate and mix and place concrete for installation of signposts; clean and prepare surfaces for paint application; mark out layout prior to installation; place and collect cones and signs in work area; set up traffic control as required.
Read and interpret engineering drawings sketches plans and utility information sheets; make recommendations on material and equipment required to complete job; notify pertinent agencies utilities businesses and residences; complete a variety of records and reports such as safety and regulatory documentation work orders maintenance and installation records inspection reports and equipment requisitions; respond to enquiries and complaints from the public as required.
Operate a vehicle and trailer for transport of equipment and materials; replace overhead signs by use of aerial lift truck as assigned; operate various paint application and removal equipment; use various hand tools such as hammer drill angle grinder coring machine and post straightener; perform routine maintenance and cleaning of paint machines spray guns and other equipment; load and unload equipment manually or using a forklift.
Remove or paint over graffiti from City property.
Perform related duties where qualified.
INDEPENDENCE
Work is assigned and reviewed by supervisor.
Issues such as changes to design specifications or location of installation are referred to supervisor.

Deal effectively with the public and outside agencies.

Understand and follow all safe work procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
Formal Education Training and Occupational Certification:
High school graduation.
Completion of Certification in Road Marking Application. (24 hours)
Current and valid Class 5 B.C. Drivers Licence.
Experience:
2 years experience in sign and road marking installation and maintenance
or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
