Job Summary

The Pre-Anesthesia Surgical Screening (PASS) Clinic at Seattle Childrens is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) which includes Nurse Practitioners (NP) or Physician Assistants (PA) to join our specialized perioperative team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to utilize clinical expertise in the comprehensive pre-anesthetic assessment of complex pediatric patients from infancy through young adulthood ensuring the highest standards of safety and successful surgical outcomes.

Position Summary

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions as a key member of the perioperative care team specializing in the pre-anesthetic evaluation and optimization of patients scheduled for surgical or procedural intervention. This role emphasizes independent assessment clinical decision-making and expert collaboration to develop individualized care plans utilizing a family-centered care approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-Anesthetic Assessment: Perform comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations of medically complex patients ranging from infancy to young adulthood. Conduct comprehensive chart reviews to support high-quality patient care across both in-person and telemedicine platforms.
  • Clinical Optimization: Order and interpret additional diagnostic tests imaging and specialty consultations to optimize the patients medical status prior to the operative experience.
  • Collaborative Care Planning: Collaborate extensively with the multidisciplinary care teamincluding Anesthesiologists Surgeons subspecialists and perioperative staffto finalize the anesthetic and surgical plan of care.
  • Patient and Family Education: Provide thorough preparation regarding the anticipated operative experience ensuring clear communication and utilizing established principles of family-centered care.
  • Documentation: Maintain timely and accurate documentation of the pre-anesthesia evaluation and plan in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Required Education and Experience:

Masters degree in nursing with a concentration in a pediatric or family nurse practitioner program OR graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.

One year work experience in a pediatric or family focused clinical area.

Required Credentials:

For Nurse Practitioners:

Active unencumbered registered nurse and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure in the State of Washington.

Current national certification as a pediatric or family nurse practitioner

For Physician Assistants:

Active unencumbered physician assistant licensure in the State of Washington

Initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

For All Providers:

Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals is required at time of hire and to be maintained continuously throughout employment. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) will also be accepted in lieu of BLS for Healthcare Professionals.

Some clinical locations may require American Heart Association Pediatric Life Support training and continuous maintenance of certification.

Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider at Seattle Childrens Hospital must be secured prior to time of hire and must be maintained in good standing and in compliance with all medical staff bylaws continuously throughout employment.

Preferred:

Two years experience in advanced practice provider role

Two years experience in pediatric health care

Compensation Range

$109857 - $161569 per year

*This position is eligible for relocation for qualified candidates.*

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity skills experience and expertise and may vary within the range provided.
