A dynamic and dedicated Female PE specialist is required to join a premier independent school in Oxford from September 2026. This is a full-time permanent opportunity for an energetic practitioner who maintains high standards of discipline and is passionate about fostering a culture of health competition and sportsmanship.
The Physical Education department is a cornerstone of the schools holistic approach to education offering world-class facilities and a diverse sports program that ranges from traditional team games to individual athletic development. Due to the nature of the role involving supervision in female changing areas and leading female-specific sports there is a genuine occupational requirement for the successful candidate to be female.
The Role
Teaching Physical Education across KS3 and KS4 with the opportunity to deliver A-Level PE or BTEC Sport for candidates with relevant academic experience.
Coaching and leading school teams in core sports (such as Netball Hockey Lacrosse Tennis or Athletics) across a busy mid-week and Saturday fixture list.
Planning and delivering structured high-energy lessons that leverage effective group management and motivational reinforcement.
Contributing to the schools extensive co-curricular program including evening training sessions and domestic/international sports tours.
Monitoring student physical development and executing tailored programs to support both elite performers and participation-level athletes.
Working as part of a high-performing department that prizes professional growth peer collaboration and innovative coaching methods.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant experience teaching and coaching within the independent sector.
A strong degree in Sports Science Physical Education or a related discipline.
Demonstrated success in coaching at a high level with the ability to umpire or referee competitive fixtures.
A professional tenacious and highly methodical approach to both classroom instruction and pitch-side management.
Competency in using digital platforms for performance analysis and departmental administration.
A commitment to the full life of a boarding or day school including pastoral duties and weekend commitments.
