Job Summary
An ambitious and creatively driven Music Early Career Teacher (ECT) is required to join a prestigious independent school in Bristol from September 2026. The Role
Teaching Music across KS3 and KS4 with the potential to contribute to A-Level Music and Music Technology as your professional experience develops.
Delivering high-quality practical-led lessons that incorporate performance composition and appraising across diverse genres and historical periods.
Participating in a structured ECT induction program featuring dedicated mentorship from a senior member of the department and a reduced timetable for professional study.
Contributing to a flourishing co-curricular program including conducting ensembles leading choirs or coordinating contemporary bands.
Assisting with the organization of school concerts theatrical productions and external tours.
Utilizing modern music software (such as Logic Pro Sibelius or MuseScore) to enhance curriculum delivery and student composition work.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) by September 2026.
A strong degree in Music (BMus or BA) from a reputable university or conservatoire.
Proficiency in at least one instrument (or voice) to a high standard with the ability to lead or accompany rehearsals.
A proactive professional approach and a genuine passion for inspiring the next generation of performers and composers.
Competency in using digital audio workstations (DAWs) and music notation software.
A desire to immerse yourself in the wider life of an independent school including pastoral care and house activities.
