Job Summary

Position Overview

The Training Specialist is responsible for designing developing and maintaining learning materials that support effective use of the Digital Regulatory Assurance System (DRAS) within Environment and Protected Areas (EPA).

This role focuses on:

  • Identifying performance and knowledge gaps
  • Translating technical and business requirements into practical training materials
  • Supporting the delivery of virtual training sessions
  • Ensuring EPA staff can confidently and effectively use DRAS
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain training materials including:
    • Job aids
    • User guides
    • Presentations
    • Scenario-based learning resources
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts system leads and business teams to ensure training content accurately reflects DRAS functionality and regulatory processes.
  • Identify user knowledge gaps through feedback observations and analytics and recommend training solutions.
  • Design and support virtual training sessions including:
    • Course outlines
    • Slide decks
    • Exercises
    • Supporting materials
  • Assist with training delivery facilitation support participant guidance and post-training follow-up activities.
  • Continuously improve training materials based on:
    • User feedback
    • System updates
    • Business process changes
  • Organize and maintain training repositories to ensure materials remain current and accessible.
  • Align training content with broader Regulatory Assurance training standards and strategies.
Location & Remote Work
  • Primarily remote within Canada
  • Occasional on-site meetings in Edmonton Alberta

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors Degree or Diploma with relevant training-related experience

Mandatory Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in:

  • Creating user training materials and technical documentation
  • Delivering virtual training sessions using platforms such as Microsoft Teams
  • Managing multiple initiatives with strict timelines

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in:

  • Developing and delivering communications and presentations
  • Creating training documentation and learning materials
  • Developing change management deliverables such as:
    • Change strategies
    • Communication plans
  • Documenting:
    • User requirements
    • Business processes
    • Workflows
  • Building effective relationships with leadership and stakeholders
  • Using feedback analytics to improve and adjust training materials
