Job Summary
The Security Engineer supports the Lead Security Engineer with day-to-day operations maintenance and tuning of the SAMHSA security tool environment vulnerability scanning execution security automation script development and integration tasks. This is the primary backup for the Lead Security Engineer on operations matters and the lead operator for routine tool tuning alert triage and patch validation.
Mandatory Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in computer science information security engineering or related discipline
Minimum five (5) years enterprise security architecture security engineering and system administration experience
Hands-on operational experience with EDR SIEM vulnerability scanning endpoint management and identity platforms
Scripting experience (PowerShell Python Bash) for security automation
Experience with cloud security operations (AWS GovCloud preferred)
U.S. citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with the specific SAMHSA tool stack at vendor-version depth
Experience with security automation frameworks (Ansible Terraform GitLab CI/CD)
Experience with HHS or other federal CDM program integration
Required Certifications (mandatory unless noted)
Industry-recognized cybersecurity certification (Security CySA GSEC GCIH or higher) preferred
Active or recent Public Trust suitability
